Digital technology has undoubtedly changed the nature of printing technology. What was once the bastion of low quality short-run work has steadily carved a path towards full integration within the print industry. It is undoubted that people want the benefits of digital. Customers, staff and printers are all looking for the benefits that digital technology can bring. For many the pathway to digital has been fraught with ill-considered decisions. The purchase of technology that promised the earth, but often bought them crashing back to earth with disappointment. What is evident throughout the industry is that digital, combination printers and ‘flexibility’ are key to the ability of a company to not only survive, but thrive.
QLM Label Makers in association with Label Print Systems will be presenting a series of on-stand workshops at Printex that demonstrate the pathway of digital printing technology. Long-time users of various digital print systems, QLM will take visitors on a journey through the digital print options. It starts with thermal printers from TOSHIBA that demonstrate a range of customised and automated functions to make life easier and more professional. From there the journey continues to Desktop Digital Colour Label Printers and the options available with EPSON through their TM-C3500 and TM-C7500 printers. A lively exploration of the print possibilities and applications will highlight the benefits that in-house label printing can bring to an organisation.
The next step moves to the industrial style printers from VIP Color Technologies and the VP600 and VP750 models. VIP have applied some clever technology to their printer range to create solutions for water and chemical resistance that have been lacking in competitor print engines. A highlight of the show will be a live demonstration on the Scorpio Digital Die-Cutter from DPS. This digital die-cutter has been making inroads by teaming up with a range of different print engines from digital to conventional presses. No dies or cutting formes means that cutting, laminating and finishing can be combined into one neat system for efficiency and cost savings.
The last step of the journey explores QLM’s relationship with HP Indigo and the DIGI WOW experiences they have been able to create through clever use of colour, stock and software technology. Fresh from their Grand Winner prize at the HP Indigo Print Excellence Awards, they are keen to share their ways to WOW customers by pushing the limits of personalisation, customisation and security labelling. Sure to be an action packed and well spent 30 minutes of your time at Printex 19.
